KALIDA PEDESTRIAN LOOP
VILLAGE OF KALIDA
The Village of Kalida, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation and Bockrath & Associates Engineering and Surveying, have embarked on a project to install or replace 16,408 feet of sidewalks throughout the Village of Kalida as well as the installation of a new pedestrian bridge on SR 114 over Plum Creek. This project, centered around the Kalida Park System, will better connect village residents to their parks and create a complete loop for pedestrian traffic.
All funding for these improvements will come from state and federal funding through ODOT's Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). This program provides funds for, among other things, on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Because of this program, over $1.6 million will be invested into the village's infrastructure.
One of the requirements to receive federal funding on this project is that all sidewalks along this pedestrian loop be at least 5 foot wide. Because of this, all sidewalks along the proposed path that are otherwise in good condition will be replaced at no cost to the property owner. A detailed list of these sidewalks can be found below.
Construction is anticipated to begin this summer and conclude in October 2026.

S Front Street
542 feet of sidewalks on the northwest side of S Front St. from W North St. to W Main St. (SR 114) will be removed and replaced.
W Main Street (SR 114)
2,210 feet of sidewalks on the northeast side of W Main St. (SR 114) from S Front St. to the new entrance of Four Seasons Park near BK Tool will be replaced or installed.
SR 114 Pedestrian Bridge
A new pedestrian bridge will be installed along SR 114 at Plum Creek. This bridge will be similar to the one currently in use near Froggy Park and will connect downtown to Four Seasons Park.
Four Seasons Park
6,571 feet of sidewalks will be installed throughout Four Seasons Park, replacing many paths that are currently gravel and creating new paths to the Southside Pavilion.
Northland Dr. Walking Loop
A new walking loop will also be installed on the north side of the park, going from Northland Dr. to the north end of the track then continuing east to SR 115.
W Northland Drive
3,490 feet of sidewalks along both sides of Northland Dr. from Rd. 18 to SR 115 will be replaced or installed.
Napoleon Road (SR 115)
3,595 feet of sidewalks along both sides of SR 115 from W Northland Dr to N Broad St. will be replaced. A new path will also run underneath the SR 115 bridge on Plum Creek to connect Froggy Park to the sidewalks on the east side of SR 115.
Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRPBs)
Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed in the crosswalks at the intersection of Northland Dr. and Napoleon Rd. and the intersection of N Broad St. and Napoleon Rd. which will alert drivers to pedestrians in the crosswalk like what is currently in front of St. Michaels Church.
